How to protect my hair colour

Protect your hair colour and maintain long-lasting hair colour radiance with the new Kérastase Reflection range for coloured and highlighted hair.*

The cool blonde balayage: how to maintain post-salon perfection

5 days ago No comments

Move over highlights! There’s a cooler, lower maintenance girl in town and her name is balayage.

What is balayage?

Balayage is a French term which means to ‘sweep’, and it has swept the hair world off its feet. The perfect balayage should start off with colour soft at the root with thicker coverage at the ends, and we can’t get enough of this look on blonde hair. The question is – how can you maintain that fresh-out-of-the-salon cool blonde balayage between colour appointments? That’s where the Reflection range comes in.

Why does colour-treated hair need special care?

Colour-treated hair can be more sensitive to certain elements that could lead to damage, such as chlorine (which you can find not only in the pool but also in your tap water) and UV rays. This can result in a lack of shine, uneven colour and sensitised ends. Of course, none of the above is ideal if your stylist has just delivered the perfect balayage. Not to worry – the upgraded Reflection range is our colour protection hero and now offers an even more customised experience.

Colour protection with the new Reflection range – how does it work?

The System Capture Advance found in the Reflection range contains a blend of sodium citrate, yuzu and lychee extracts and is our ultimate formula to care for colour treated hair. The range also contains natural rice bran oil, Vitamin E and UV-Filters. The result..? Hair colour fade and the deposition of dulling particles are all reduced. So your blonde balayage can stay ultra-cool with a diamond-esque shine.

How do I keep blonde hair from looking brassy?

Les Touches Chromatiques – the first in-ink-care for coloured hair – will keep your colour looking vibrant and neutralise any unwanted yellow tones. Your stylist will diagnose and prescribe the best ink blend for your new colour so you can indulge in salon expertise (and great results!) at home to keep your colour looking fresh in-between your salon appointments.

How to use Les Touches Chromatiques

After washing your hair with Bain Chromatique shampoo, blend 10 clicks of the Cool Blonde Touche Chromatique (or your prescribed colour) with 15 ml of the Fondant Chromatique conditioner or the Masque Chromatique hair mask. Apply to lengths and tips of towel dried hair for an extra shiny finish with an enhanced blonde colour, minus those dreaded yellow undertones.

Complete this easy ritual once a week, 2-3 weeks after your colour and voilà: your blonde balayage looks shiny and radiant in between salon trips.

How to treat dry hair.

13 days ago No comments

Are your locks brittle, difficult to detangle and lack shine? If this sounds familiar, you most likely have dry hair. This can be due to a number of reasons, from hereditary or physiological issues to external damaging factors such as pollution, heated styling or even harsh weather conditions. All these factors can lead to your hair losing its moisture and becoming dry and brittle. But do not despair – we have top tips on how to get your hair looking shiny and feeling silky soft again in no time!

Use targeted treatments for dry hair

Our Nutritive range is perfect for providing personalised nourishment at home or in the salon for dry to severely dry locks. With its signature ingredient of Irisome, and active substance in royal jelly which contains a substantial 11 out of 18 amino acids found in keratin, and a glucose, lipid and protein content, our products boost, protect and nourish your locks.

  • Apply either Bain Satin 1 shampoo for dry hair or Bain Satin 2 shampoo for very dry and sensitised hair. A great tip is to massage your scalp to boost circulation and rinse in cold water to make your hair feel silky soft. Rinse and repeat for optimum results.
  • Finally, apply Lait Vital conditioner and leave it to soak in for 5 minutes before rinsing to soften and nourish the hair fibre without weighing it down.

Prevention tips

After getting your hair back in condition with our bespoke Nutritive range, there are some measures you can take to prevent it from becoming dry again. Cut down on heated appliances and ensure you always apply thermo-protective treatments. You can also try a hair mask, such as our Masquintense for both fine and thick hair, once a week for a deeply nourishing treatment. For severely dry and rebellious hair, apply Serum Oléo Relax for long-lasting frizz effect, instant shine and easy-to-tame locks, so you can style your new-found silky soft hair with ease! For profound and long-lasting results, contact your Kérastase stylist for a hair diagnosis and to receive a tailor-made Nutritive Protocole Immunité created according to your level of hair dryness.

With Kérastase, combatting dry locks has never been easier. Follow our tips and you can say hello to luscious locks in no time!

Nadine Baggott experiences Fusio-Dose, our star hair treatment

18 days ago No comments

Nadine, please can you give us an introduction to your incredible career in the beauty industry?

I have been a health and beauty journalist and tv presenter for 25 years, working for Hello!, Marie Claire and The Daily Mail and presenting for This Morning and The Titchmarsh Show.

Why did you decide to start your vlog?

I started my vlog (The Beauty Know it All) for beauty grown ups two years ago because I realised no one was really offering beauty advice to grown ups – plain talking, no bull* reviews of products that work and advice for busy women who want stealth beauty, in other words minimal effort maximum results.

And that’s what Fusio-Dose hair treatment is all about for me. Instantly shinier, healthier, for me less fluffy and flyaway, hair. I remember when conditioning treatments had to be left on for ages and wrapped in hot towels, but this works the minute it is sprayed into your hair. What’s more it is now finally available to use at home – my hair thanks you.

Describe your relationship with your hair

My hair is fine and prone to fluffiness, annoyingly wavy in some areas and straight in others – I’ll be honest and say that it peaked the year that Bananarama had a number one (the first time around). My hair is triple processed - keratin straightened, all over coloured to hide the greys and then balayaged – so it needs the best hair care around.

What are you favourite Kérastase products/treatments?

My favourite Kérastase treatment is Fusio-Dose, of course, and the scalp care shampoo Bain Vital Dermo Calm, it really works for me to prevent, soothe and repair a scalp irritated by colour.

Find out more about Fusio-Dose and why it is Nadine’s favourite in salon hair repair treatment below:

Fight frizz and stay smooth as the seasons change

1 month ago No comments

With the blissful heat of summer a mere memory, you start to revel in the cosiness of autumn days. Walks in the crisp air and cradling a full mug in front of a crackling fire may be seasonal staples, but your hair begins to frizz at the idea! As the colder weather sets in, the atmosphere both outside and in our homes becomes drier and so do your once luscious locks. Add to that the damage from your everyday styling tools like a hairdryer or straighteners and you know it is time to take action. When frizzy hair makes an appearance, the battle for tamed hair with fewer flyaways begins. Little do your frizzy follicles know, you are fighting at an unfair advantage with a secret weapon in your hair arsenal – the Discipline range from Kérastase.

Combat that frizz

With cold wind nipping at our heels, there is nothing more inviting than a steaming shower with products that restore, rejuvenate and add a touch of luxury to an everyday ritual. Our tailor-made Discipline range for frizzy hair does just that! Every item in the Discipline range contains a formula based on our patented Morpho Keratin™ technology which replenishes, smooths and strengthens the very fibres of your hair, helping you say goodbye to frizz and hello to soft, manageable locks.

Your tailor-made, frizz-taming regime

For the ultimate Discipline frizz defence, let us introduce you to a bespoke three-step taming plan.

  1. Start with applying Bain Fluidealiste, our frizz-taming shampoo, and massaging it into your scalp. Rinse it out and indulge in a second application for optimum results. Rinse and repeat has never been so luxurious!
  2. Provide a much needed moisture shot to your thirsty locks by applying Maskeratine, a soothing mask, to your lengths and ends if you have thick hair. For those with fine hair, try our lightweight conditioner, Fondant Fluidealiste.
  3. Prep your hair before you style with Keratine Thermique, a smoothing primer that protects your hair from the heat of the hairdryer. Or if your hair is fine and you’re after a blow-dry facilitator as well as intense shine and softness, try Fluidissime Spray.

Top tip! For overly processed hair, try our sulphate-free Bain Fluidealiste.

The results? Hair that is more manageable, shinier and smoother. With Kérastase on your side, banishing frizz has never been easier.

After having soaked up the sunshine over the summer, now is a great time to give your hair a luxurious treat and a chance to repair. The ultimate damage remedy, enriched with ceramides, this product helps repair and protect the hair fibre and , combats the dryness caused by all those afternoons at the beach. Not only does hair feel transformed, it’s also protected from future damage. Pair it with the Nutrition Booster for hair that feels intensely nourished, hydrated and weightless, with a shine to make the stars jealous.

Resistance at-home hair ritual
